Our Programs

In 2012, we began offering the Assisstive Technology (AT) program for individuals who would benefit from technology to help those with speech or other needs. We offer parent scholarships for parents who want to attend the National Down Syndrome Congress Convention. In 2017, we started the Buddy Scholarship to graduating seniors with a major in special education.  We also started our first Buddy Grant to special education teachers that want to fund a program or product that exceeds their budget.  For more information on our programs, see below.  

 

Assistive Technology Program

The Assistive technology program (AT) is designed to help individuals with special needs who reside in the Prairie Lakes AEA region purchase a device to help with speech or learning.  See below for the application and more information. 

Down Syndrome Convention / Conference Scholarships

Parents that have a child with Down Syndrome, who reside in the Prairie Lakes AEA region, have an opportunity to attend the National Down Syndrome Congress Convention, or any down syndrome conference held annually in various cities across the United States, or any other conference geared towards parents of children with Down Syndrome. Buddy Grant

The Buddy Grant was created in 2017 for special education teachers in the Prairie Lakes AEA region who have a project or item that exceeds their budget.  The application opens every year on February 1st and will close on March 31st. Click below for more information    

Buddy Scholarship

The Buddy Scholarship was created in 2017 and offers a scholarship to a graduating senior and/or current college student whose home address is in the Prairie Lakes AEA region. The student’s major should be special education, occupational, speech or physical therapy.  Applications will be accepted starting in February 1st of each year and will close on March 31st.
